Claudewell S. Thomas, M.D., M.PH. is professor emeritus of psychiatry and biobehavioral sciences, David Geffen School of Medicine UCLA. He has more than forty years of teaching and administrative experience at Yale, the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), New Jersey Medical School, the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, and UCLA. He is a distinguished life fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, a fellow of the A.K. Rice Institute, a fellow of the American Public Health Association, and an emeritus member of the American College of Psychiatrists.
Dr. Thomas is a 1997 recipient of Yale’s department of psychiatry Distinguished Psychiatric Alumnus Award. He is an emeritus member of the scientific research society Sigma Xi and a former member of the National Research Council’s (of the National Academy of Science) Assembly of Behavioral and Social Sciences.
